About Me

What does one write about oneself?  I’m just another woman trying to figure out where her place is in life each and every day.

I’ve been married to The Hubby since 1995 (wow!) and have loved (almost) every minute of it.  He appreciates my sarcasm in ways my parents never could.  He’s my best friend and really doesn’t mind if I lovingly call him an idiot when he delivers his “special” brand of humor.

I have two wonderful boys who have pushed me to my limits in so many ways…mostly positive.

Bay is our oldest and is extremely creative.  He’s the drawing, scenario plotting, video game guru of our household.  Play by his rules, cause your way just won’t work.

CJ is the younger but feistier of the two.  Strong-willed, a little more athletic, and shy, he’s Momma’s snuggler (for now).  But good golly, if you make him mad – watch your back.  He already has a reputation in our tiny town for pulling the fire alarm at the elementary school.  For real.

Both of them were incredible blessings from God.  Years of fertility treatments and adoption proceedings led us to such an amazing appreciation of the two greatest gifts we have ever received.  I try to remember that when I feel like calling the doctors and lawyers and asking them to take them back.

We live in Kansas now, but moved here from New Jersey.  I still tell people I’m from Jersey.  At first we lived in a large (by midwest standards) city, but now we’ve moved to a small town 30 minutes away from the nearest Barnes & Noble.  Our friends from the east coast refuse to come visit.

Before kids, I did have a life working in public relations and advertising.  I have a degree in English, but my grammar sucks.  Guess I was more interested in the human sexuality class I took that year.

I still take the time to try to be creative when I can – writing, scrapbooking, reading, and visits to local museums.  Those things happen less and less as we head out to sports practices, church events and toy shopping.

I’ll tell you a secret, every now and then I wish for a little bit of that independence that came before a family of four.  But then I’ll get a sticky ice cream kiss or a ‘mom, you look like a princess,’ and I’m reminded that this is a season of life that I just don’t want to wish away.

So, if you enjoy hearing about our crazy life here in rural Kansas, please feel free to leave me a comment.  Or don’t.  Chances are, you don’t have much more time than I do and sneaking around peeking at blogs is a guilty pleasure, considering that pile of laundry that’s waiting for you in the other room.
