The Emmys – What a waste of time

It’s been a long time since I’ve actually sat and watched an awards show.  When I say sat and watched, what I really mean is…make sure they aren’t giving out any awards I want to see, then run into kitchen to prepare bedtime snack for boys.  Run back to television, see that the incredibly lame reality hosts are back on, head back into kitchen to clean up, then realize no one has gotten their meds before bed.  Sit the young one down for a breathing treatment and make up some excuse about desperately needing to use the bathroom so that I can head back to the tv to see if they have announced anyone important yet.  (I know, yet another fantastic mommy moment.)

During all of this running, I missed the one award I was actually interested in.

Anyone who has ever met me (or seen my Flair board on Facebook) knows that I am a HUGE Lost fan.  As in, don’t bother calling on Lost night, because I WILL NOT ANSWER THE PHONE.

I wasn’t expecting them to win Best Drama, but sugar honey iced tea…Michael Emerson really deserved an Emmy for his role as the creepy antagonist, Ben.  He has saved this show for the past two seasons.  If it wasn’t for him, I would have tuned out to Kate and Jack a while ago.  There is only so much indecisive-love-affair story line that I can take.  But Ben can beat the crud out of Sawyer or play head games with Locke any day!  (I really do like Sawyer, I just thought it was quite entertaining to see little Ben and his billy club taking down the southern hottie.)

Oh well, I can’t get back those three horrific Emmy hours or make my disappointment over Emerson’s loss go away, so I might as well blow the whole evening and head on over to ABC. com to watch some old Lost episodes.

Surely I need something to burn the images out of my head of Captain Kirk ripping the clothes off of Heidi Klum.

Oh yeah, these people certainly know entertainment.

  1. Well, I totally got out-voted at my house, as the hubby had the Cowboys on, and the kids were watching Disney channel on the other tube. So….I was deprived, um, I mean, SUBMISSIVE! And as for your “waste of time” title, I heard you spent 5 hours yesterday trying to beat my Scramble score!! (congrats, by the way, she said begrudgingly) =) You’ve raised the bar, my friend — and I don’t know if I can rise to that occasion!!!! But I’ve devoted 5 hours today for that sole purpose, because I’m deep that way.
